Thank you for your interest in learning about the Oakland Tech community and in exploring all of the reasons and ways we’re Bulldog proud.
Each year, 8th grade students and their parent(s) or caregiver(s) have the opportunity to experience the full energy and spirit of the Bulldog community while school is in session. Tours begin with a 30-minute presentation at 9 AM in the auditorium (42nd near Broadway), followed by a campus tour led by students and accompanied by Tech parents. Tours conclude by 10:30 AM. RSVPs are required. Given space limitations, we ask that only current 8th grade families sign up.
Open to current 8th grade students only, shadow visits provide an invaluable opportunity to experience a day in the life of a Tech Bulldog. Visits are available from Dec. 4, 2017 to Jan. 12, 2018. The last day to register for a visit is Friday, Jan. 5.
You will receive an email within approximately one week of your submission. It will include the name of your student host who will contact you directly. You and the host will finalize the date of the visit.
Prospective Bulldogs will meet their hosts in the Attendance Office (located in the front lobby), sign in and receive a visitor’s pass. Shadow visits may run until the beginning or end of lunchtime or the end of the school day — a choice left to the visiting student and Bulldog host.
Please contact Dawn Humphrey at email@example.com if you have any questions.
Our Information Night for Prospective Families was held on Thursday, Nov. 2, and tours throughout Nov. and Dec. If you attended one or both of these events, we’d greatly appreciate your feedback — what worked, what didn’t and what improvements you suggest we consider for next year and beyond. Please provide Information Night feedback here and school tour feedback here. Thank you in advance for your thoughts and input.
In addition to our prospective Bulldog events, we encourage you to get a sense of who we are and what we offer by browsing our website, attending athletic and performing arts events, and stopping by one (or more) of our monthly PTSA meetings, which frequently include Q & A sessions with one of our principals. Check the calendar for dates and times. We also encourage you to review how we work to nurture a tight-knit and supportive 9th grade community.
The enrollment season for the 2018-19 school year opened on November 13, 2017 and closes on January 26, 2018. Learn about the process here, which includes a first-ever option to apply online.
Families will be notified of student placement in early March, which allows time to appeal (if desired) and to finalize enrollment prior to the end of the current school year.
Please note that all enrollment decisions are made at the district level.
Even if students are too late to apply during the initial winter enrollment period, OUSD’s system allows late applicants to access available spaces throughout the district.
Thank you again for your interest in Oakland Tech!
