DEPARTMENT POLICIES:

  1. Students must wear the school uniform for class every day.
  2. Students must use the locker rooms to change for class. A lock and locker will be issued at the beginning of the year to secure belongings during class.
  3. We suggest that backpacks not be brought to class. However, if they must be, stu-dents are responsible for their belongings. Oakland Tech is not responsible for any lost or stolen items.
  4. Students must remain with their teacher at all times. If they choose to separate themselves from the group, it will be considered a class cut. If a student doesn’t know what to do, he or she should ask their teacher.
  5. Students will not be excused to use the restroom during class. Restrooms will be available at the beginning and end of the period while students are changing.
  6. Students must report to first and second roll call at the beginning and end of class. If either one is missed, the student will be marked absent. At the end of class, students may not leave the PE area until the bell rings. The holding line, a painted line on the ground, is where all students will stop and wait.
  7. Students are graded on their daily attendance because we teach activity based classes. Absences will only be excused with a pink slip from the office within six days of the absence. Six or more unexcused absences will result in an automatic “F” for the marking period.
  8. Students may only be excused from active participation with a doctor’s note speci-fying their limitations. If need be, activities can and will be modified. In these situations, whether or not a student is required to dress for activity should be discussed with your teacher.
