Affirmations:  Thanks to Rosemary for organizing another wonderful junior prom. A thanks also goes out to Mrs. Bellows and Fred Trotter for chaperoning the prom.

We would like to thank all of the teachers who held honors sessions the past two weeks giving all students an opportunity to access the classes. A key component to the growth of our school is ensuring that we provide equity within our community.

Use Your Voice Survey: Please take the time to go online and fill out the Use Your Voice Survey. Also, please encourage your students to go online and fill out the survey as well. Offer them incentive for completing the survey and encouraging their parents to complete the survey.

STAR:   We will be providing training at Monday’s staff meeting for the STAR Testing.  State testing will occur the first week in May for all students in the 9th to 11th grade. Now is the time to start informing your students the importance of being at school on testing days on time and putting forth best effort on all examinations. While students are evaluated on their performance with zero impact as individuals it is important to communicate to them that this is their opportunity to demonstrate what they have learned this year, which will show how effective their teachers are and the programs that the school provides. Oakland Technical High School could not be the school that it is if our students did not show their success on these standardized tests that the state does evaluate us on each year. Show the city of Oakland that we truly are the best high school in the bay area.

Senior Meeting:   There will be a senior meeting during 4th period on April 28th.  Graduation themes were distributed to English teachers and were due on April 15th. If you did not survey your classes, please do so and return the information to Ms. Morrison.

Facility News:   The restroom locks will be changed so that your classroom key will unlock them.
Engineering Bridge Competition:   The annual bridge competition will be held this Wednesday in Mr. Merrill’s Room, S-3. Please come out and support the students as they test their designs and the structural integrity of each bridge by loading them with weight to failure. All are welcome and encouraged to come and see the event.
