Staff Bulletin – March 7, 2011
1. Effective Teacher Task Force Convention: At our staff meeting on Monday, March 14th, there will be an opportunity to elect 2 delegates to the April 7-9th Convention. Please see your OEA representative if you are interested. Thanks.
REMINDERS:
Parking: Please make sure that you have an OT parking pass displayed on your vehicle. Please DO NOT PARK in front of Ms. Joe’s or Mr. Harris’ classroom. This is a fire lane and it is illegal to park in that area. Also, please remember that if you park on campus between 8:30-3:30, you will most likely have to wait for staff to open up the 45th St. gate. Please park off campus if you plan to leave campus during the school day.
Student Parking: 3rd period teachers, please announce to your students that they are not allowed to park on campus. Copiers: Did you know that it costs approximately 73,000 annually, for maintenance, rental fees and copy paper? Let’s work together to conserve our paper/copy use for the sake of our financial and environmental health. Please DO NOT COPY BOOKS and please use the double-sided copy feature. Use ½ sheets the whiteboard/blackboard/LCD projector when appropriate.
Summer School: It has been determined that OT will host 3 summer school programs: 1) credit recovery summer school for rising 11th and 12th grade students in North and West Oakland needing to make up credit, 2) Step-up program for rising 9th graders who are FBB and BB (using the Algebra Academy model), and 3) Intervention Program for our Rising 10th graders with a focus on English and Algebra (Mastery model).
All programs will operate July 5th-August 5th (about 4 1/2 hours per day for
students). If you are interested in working in one of these programs, please
let one of the administrators know.
BLUE PASSES: Please do not allow students to walk in an out of your classroom. Please issue a blue pass only if a student MUST leave your classroom. I have noticed, especially on the 2nd floor, many students leaving a few classrooms, at will. Teachers, you are responsible for the students assigned to you and I expect that you monitor your students at all times. Valuable instructional time is lost when students are not in their classroom focused on their learning. It is also an extreme disruption to the school learning environment when students are meeting in the hallways and socializing.
Dismissal: Please DO NOT dismiss students from your class before the bell. I expect that students will be in class, actively engaged, in bell to bell instruction.
School Communication:
Oakland Tech Bullhorn: Please submit your articles, announcements, information and recognitions to bullhorn@oaklandtech.com. The Bullhorn is an electronic bulletin, published every Tuesday and it reaches close to 1200 households! This is an opportunity to reach students, families and community in a timely fashion.
Marquee: If you would like events, messages posted on
the marquee, send the information to techmarquee@gmail.com.
Calendar/Bulletin: If you would like information posted on the school
Monthly calendar or weekly bulletin, please send the information to Sheilagh.andujar@ousd.k12.ca.us.
Information Hallway: Please do not post flyers around the school. The Information Hallway, located on the 1st floor is the central location for postings.
