Acknowledgements and Recognitions

*Please join me in welcoming our newest staff member, Olivia Yao, teacher for Severely Handicapped students. She replaces Meriel Templeton in the Shop 7 classroom.

*Safe, Supportive, Schools Student Fishbowl: Thank you to students, staff and Terry Cullinane, parent, who participated in the S3 fishbowl last week. The 3 ½ hours were extremely productive; culminating in a action plan that we hope will yield a more positive and inclusive school community. I have attached the emerging themes and action steps from our work.

 

Announcements/Information:

*WASC: This is a reminder that our one day visit is this Thursday, April 5th. All classrooms must post the ESLRS.  Please let Richard Fairly know if you need a poster of our ESLR’s .  Teachers, please welcome our visitors into your classrooms and remind students of the purpose of the 1-day visitation. Thank you.

*OUSD PD: This week’s OUSD PD will take place in various locations around the district. Please refer to the PD handout you received earlier for locations. Also, check your email for last minute changes that may occur.

*AP/HP Information Sessions: Teachers, your help is needed to remind and to encourage students to attend the HP/AP Information Sessions this week. We also need staff to advocate for their students and turn in the student recommendation forms. Extra schedules and recommendation forms are available in the Main Office and Counseling Office.

*Performing Arts News: On Tuesday April 3, 2012, New Highland Elementary, Westlake Middle School and one other middle school will be hosted by Oakalnd Tech’s performing Arts Department.

Reminders:

*OEA Forms: Please read the email I have forwarded from OEA President, Betty Olson-Jones. It is a request to complete Intent to Return and Separation form for the 2012-13 school year.

*Yearbook (from Ms. Hayes): Staff and parents can use this link to upload pictures of various school-related events to the dropbox for yearbook to use. *Attendance Procedures:  At our last staff meeting, we briefly discussed attendance taking procedures.

*It is EXPECTED that ALL teachers (not IWE’s or students) will take attendance as early as time permits and before midnight of the same day. . If for some unexpected reason you are not able to meet the midnight deadline, you MUST take attendance on a paper roster and submit to Ms. Thomas the next day.

*Please leave instructions for substitutes that they are to get paper rosters from the attendance office in the morning and return completed attendance rosters to Ms. Thomas before they leave for the day.

* If a student arrives tardy, please make a change to the attendance to reflect tardy-not absence.

*Faculty Council will review the pink pass policy at the next meeting.
