Rising 10th, 11th and 12th grade Tech students who did not pass 5 of the 6 physical fitness tests given in February — and therefore must take PE in the 2017-18 school year — will have another opportunity to retake the tests they didn’t pass on Monday, Aug. 7 or Tuesday, Aug. 8, from 8 AM to 2 PM, in the Girls Gym.

Sign Up Here for the Summer Physical Fitness Test.

The deadline to register is Tuesday, Aug. 1. Once registration is closed, we will email a list of tests and test times to each student who has registered.

High school students must take four years of PE. However, those who pass the physical fitness test (5 of 6 areas) receive a two-year waiver. Education Code Section 51241.

  3. Push ups/Modified push up/Flexed arm hang
  4. Trunk lift
  5. Shoulder stretch/Sit and reach
  6. Mile/Pacer
What to Bring
  • Oakland Tech ID
  • Running shoes
  • Wear athletic attire
  • Water, snacks/lunch
Please email Ms. Brandt if you have any questions.
Medical conditions

If you have a temporary medical condition that does not allow you to participate, you will take the tests in Feb. 2018 during the testing window. If you have a permanent medical condition that limits your participation on these tests, please bring a doctor’s note so we can modify the tests for you.

For each test area, the FITNESSGRAM (see below) uses the Healthy Fitness Zone (HFZ) to evaluate fitness performance. The performance goal for all test areas is the HFZ, which represents a level of fitness that offers protection against the diseases that result from sedentary living. If the performance goal is not met, the results are classified as Needs Improvement (NI) or, for Aerobic Capacity and Body Composition, Very Lean (Body Composition only) or Needs Improvement-Health Risk (NI-HR).

YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE PERFORMANCE RESULTS DURING TESTING. Performance results will be given to your counselor on Aug. 8 at 3 PM.
