Dear Oakland Tech Community,

Ms. Woo receiving congratulations from students

Oakland Tech’s Jah-Yee Woo is an amazing person and exceptional teacher, and we want to congratulate her and celebrate her for being one of the OUSD Teachers of the Year! Not only does Ms. Woo take time out of her schedule to meet with students to make sure they are on target to graduate, she goes above and beyond in everything she does. This year, she’s been coaching Heath Madom who is the founding teacher of our Race, Policy & Law (RPL) pathway. Ms. Wood has been instrumental in helping to support the development of the RPL curriculum to ensure it’s engagement and rigor. We are so fortunate that Ms. Woo is at Tech. Ms. Woo and two other OUSD teachers move forward to the Alameda Teacher of the Year round. Alameda County will announce the winners in fall and those winners move forward to California Teacher of the Year. Thank you, Ms. Woo!

Meanwhile, OakTech Rep’s spring production — She Kills Monsters — is this week (Thurs & Fri at 7 PM and Saturday at 2 & 7 PM)  and we encourage everyone to come and marvel at our amazingly talented Bulldogs under the direction of Ms. Ena Dallas. They’ve worked incredibly hard on this play, and would love to perform to a packed and enthusiastic house. Also, involved in making of the show is Tech’s Technical Student Group (a k a, Tech Techies.) Mr. Casey Fern is the Auditorium Technical Director and he works with students to teach them the technical aspects of running a show. Come celebrate our actors and our Techies!

In Unity,

Staci Ross-Morrison & Josue Diaz Jr.
Oakland Tech Co-Principals
