Oakland Tech has just implemented a painful $400,000+ mid-year budget cut as part of its effort to help OUSD address the district-wide financial crisis. One area severely impacted is the school’s near-empty supply closet.
In response to the severe shortage, the PTSA launched a supply drive in mid-February. Since then, Bulldog parents and supporters have purchased about 50 boxes of paper, 27 toner cartridges, dozens of boxes of tissues and containers of wipes and nearly twenty bottles of hand sanitizer.
This is a great start — and thank you to everyone who has contributed! — but it’s important to know that the school normally uses 18 boxes of paper a week. We would love to make sure all teachers have what they need so we are asking people to particularly focus on purchasing paper and toner cartridges if possible. Every bit helps!
If you can participate in any way, we’d be tremendously grateful.
FYI: We have specified a certain type of paper because other varieties tend to cause paper jams.
Thank you for supporting our students!
