The entire Bulldog community welcomes you to Oakland Tech as the Class of 2022! We are excited to have you join us!
Tech conducts a math assessment of incoming students to ensure they’re placed in the correct math class in the fall, and, equally key, to help both students and their families identify areas of strength and areas in need of improvement upon which to focus.
Students who were unable to take the assessment during the week of May 21 may do so on during a make up session on Monday, June 4, from 4–5:30 PM in Tech’s Quick Lunch Room in the basement. Students must arrive no later than 4:20 PM with a sharp pencil in hand. The test must be completed by 5:30 PM.
Oakland Tech’s 9th Grade Summer Bridge consists of 2-one week sessions — the weeks of July 9 and July 16 — that focus on helping 8th grade students transition from middle school to high school. Summer Bridge cultivates a diverse community of students and aims to prepare them to engage actively with, and meet the challenges of, a large comprehensive high school in Oakland. Space is limited to 120 students per week.
It is mandatory that you register your child during the registration process. Failure to do so will lead to his/her spot being taken. Registration is when you’ll turn in all of your OUSD paperwork (available online), get free (and mandatory) student IDs, purchase PE clothes (optional), receive student schedules, learn about clubs, order your yearbook and much more. Forms, details and, we hope, the answers to many questions will be posted on the website as soon as they’re available.
This annual (and fun) event for incoming Bulldogs and their families is a great opportunity to meet, connect and mingle. Here, you’ll have a chance to chat with other new families as well as current students and parents who’ll be on hand to answer questions, offer advice and warmly welcome you to our big Bulldog family. This year, we’re introducing a campus tour and orientation for interested incoming students, which includes a Q & A with student leaders from the upper grades. Incoming students may sign up for one of three time slots:
While the students are touring and talking, parents, guardians and siblings can enjoy the BBQ out front and chat with other families. The students will then join them for the dinner.
Please email Martel Price, 9th Grade Assistant Principal, at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions, comments or concerns.
Once again, congratulations and welcome to the Bulldog family!
