OT Rowing Enters First Regatta of the year – Head of the American

With only six weeks of practice under their belt, the novice women’s and men’s teams are headed for their first race – The Head of the American. On Saturday, October 25, 2014, the Sacramento Aquatic Center is hosting a 5,000  meter (3.1 miles) race on Lake Natoma and Oakland Tech will be there! Coach Dees is excited to take the team to Lake Natoma.  Recently he spoke about how impressed he is with the progress in each boat, especially how the crews are unifying. “We’ve been out having a good time learning how to row and in the last week, the athletes have really begun to hone their focus.  It’s very gratifying to see them figure it out, to see them realize they can do this”. Tech is entered in the novice women, novice men, and varsity men events. With 60 rowing clubs participating and over 525 boats entered, it should be lots of fun!
