Rowing, or “Crew”,  is the oldest inter-collegiate sport in the U.S. More than 50 years ago OT had a team that rowed out of the nearby Lake Merritt Boathouse (next time you are in the library, look up at the pictures on the wall!). In January 2013 the team, both women’s and men’s, was revived and is now rowing out of the Jack London Aquatic Center. We are also partnering with USRowing’s “America Rows” program and are very excited to be able to offer rowing to all interested Tech students.

Sponsored by the East Bay Rowing Club, the team is borrowing equipment until it can obtain some of  its own. So far, oars have been donated (Thanks Pacific Crew!) and repainted (Thanks Parents!), cox boxes acquired in purple and gold (Thanks PTSA!), both of which were used in recent regattas Sacramento and Foster City. Now that the longer Fall races have ended, the team is looking to growing and preparing for the shorter sprints in the Spring.
