Scholarship: Gates Millennium Scholarships

Scholarship Amount: Major college support
Eligibility: The Gates Millennium Scholars Program (GMS), funded by a grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, was established in 1999 to provide outstanding, low income African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander American*, and Hispanic American students with an opportunity to complete an undergraduate college education in any discipline area of interest. Students are eligible to be considered for a GMS scholarship if they:
Are African American, American Indian/Alaska Native*, Asian Pacific Islander American** or Hispanic American
Are a citizen, national or legal permanent resident of the United States
Have attained a cumulative high school GPA of 3.3 on an unweighted 4.0 scale or have earned a GED
Will be enrolling for the first time at a U.S. accredited*** college or university as a full-time, degree-seeking, first-year student in the fall.
Have demonstrated leadership abilities through participation in community service, extracurricular, or other activities
Meet the Federal Pell Grant eligibility criteria
Have completed and submitted all three required forms (Nominee Personal Information Form, Nominator Form, and Recommender Form) by the deadline

Scholarship: Actuarial Scholarship for Diversity Students
Sponsor/Organization: Casualty Actuarial Society and the Society of Actuaries
Scholarship Amount: High school senior applying for freshman year - $1,000
Eligibility: Each applicant must fulfill all the requirements listed below:
• Each applicant must have at least one birth parent who is a member of one of the following minority groups:
Black/African American, Hispanic, Native North American.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale), emphasis on math or actuarial courses.
• High school seniors must have a minimum ACT math score of 28 OR SAT math score of 600.

Scholarship: Holocaust Remembrance Scholarships
Scholarship Amount: Scholarships are awarded to ten top winning essayists, ranging from $5,000 to $2,500. Second and Third Place winners receive cash prizes of $500 and $250.
Eligibility: The Holocaust Remembrance Project is a national essay contest for high school students designed to encourage and promote the study of the Holocaust. This contest is open to all students age 19 and under who meet the following criteria: 1) are currently enrolled as a high school student in grades 9-12 (including home schooled students), or who are high school seniors who may graduate high school any time in 2010, or who are enrolled in a high school equivalency program; and (2) are residents of the United States, Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, or are U.S. citizens living abroad.

Scholarship: Coca-Cola Two Year College Scholarships

Scholarship: Evelyn Keedy Memorial Scholarship
Sponsor/Organization: Evelyn Keedy & The Art Institutes
Scholarship Amount: $30,000 tuition scholarship is awarded each year to a worthy high school senior who has enrolled at one of the eligible Art Institutes locations, including The Art Institute of Houston—North.

Scholarship: National Co-op Scholarship Program
Sponsor/Organization: National Commission for Cooperative Education
Scholarship Amount: 170 $6000 merit co-op scholarships, renewable for up to $20,000 to $25,000.
Eligibility: These merit co-op scholarships will be awarded to high school seniors and transfer students who plan to participate in college cooperative education at one of our Partner Colleges and Universities.To qualify for this scholarship, students must:
Have a cumulative high school GPA of 3.5 or better on a 4.0 scale.
Complete all the required admissions applications material and be accepted for the 2011-2012 Academic year at one of the National Commission Partner Institutions: Drexel University, Johnson & Wales University, Kettering University, Pace University, C.W. Scholarship: The Art Institutes Best Teen Chef Competition
Sponsor/Organization: The Art Institute
Scholarship Amount: First-place local winners will be flown, along with one parent or legal guardian, to Houston, TX, to compete in the national finals. Following an introductory reception on May 14, 2010, the competitors will face off on May 15, 2010 to compete for tuition scholarships and the coveted title of Best Teen Chef. Each finalist will prepare a meal under the watchful eyes of professional chefs, and have their creations judged on criteria including taste, presentation, and culinary techniques.
First place: Full-tuition scholarship
Second place: Half-tuition scholarship
Third place: Quarter-tuition scholarship
Eligibility: The Best Teen Chef Competition is open to high school seniors in the United States and Canada (excluding Quebec) graduating in 2010 with a minimum 2.0 cumulative grade point average.

Scholarship: The Art Institutes' Passion for Fashion Competition

Scholarship Amount: Two grand prize winners will have the opportunity to earn a full tuition scholarship to study fashion at an Art Institutes school, as well as tour Seventeen magazine’s offices, have lunch with a style pro, indulge in a $500 shopping spree, attend New York City Fashion Week — and blog about the experience on Seventeen.com.
Eligibility: The Art Institutes Passion For Fashion Competition (“Competition”) is open to legal residents of the fifty (50) United States, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and Canada (excluding residents of Quebec) who are full or part-time high school seniors/grade 12 students scheduled to graduate in 2010 with a minimum 2.0 cumulative grade point average or the equivalent thereof (based on either a 4.0 scale or 5.0 scale) as of date of entry and prize award. An eligible minor should have his/her parent’s or legal guardian’s permission to enter. Submit a completed Entry & Release Form, to your choice of one of The Art Institutes schools listed herein that offers a Fashion program. This school will be the location you represent, should you progress in the Competition, and plan to attend following the end of the Competition. You may only enter the Competition at one Art Institutes school. You must fulfill all individual fashion program admission requirements of The Art Institutes school at which you enter the Competition.
