Scholarship: Dwight Brydie Scholarship Fund
Sponsor/Organization: California Workforce Association and the Youth Development Research Fund (YDRF)
Scholarship Amount: Scholarships are up to $1,000 per person and should be used to offset the costs for tuition, books, fees, transportation costs and other related and relevant training expenses.
Eligibility: 1. Currently participating in a youth employment program
2. In High School and planning on attending college or post-secondary education or training or attending college or post-secondary education or training
3. Between the ages of 16 and 21 and
4. A resident of California.

Scholarship: Alexander Hamilton Citizenship Achievement Award
Sponsor/Organization: Alexander Hamilton Friends Association
Scholarship Amount: $250-$500 cash scholarships
Eligibility: Awards to high school JUNIORS who have exhibited superior achievement and citizenship during high school. A Hamilton Award Winner…
Is a Junior in high school.
Is College bound.
Has a strong record of community service.
Shows a strong commitment to their academic studies.
Is a self starter and has proven this through activities such as: organizing a fundraiser, starting a business, starting a club or organization or working to help support his or her family.
Shows passion and commitment to their interests. This is often manifested in athletic, artistic or academic achievements.
Has some personal need. Hamilton Friends tries to choose the students who will benefit most from our programs and who otherwise may not have access to our services. When choosing our winners we take the applicant’s financial, family and community situation into consideration.

Scholarship: AES Engineers Scholarships
Scholarship Amount: $500
Eligibility: Our belief is that achieving a high grade point average should not be the only criteria for determining who deserves to be helped. For that reason we are offering a scholarship that will be awarded on the basis of character, as determined by evaluated the essays that are submitted.
Scholarships are intended for our future leaders across a wide spectrum of fields of study. This award is available to high school seniors and all students attending a post secondary educational facility. Students must submit an essay of no more than 1000 words in answer to one of the following questions :
What are your dreams for your future?
When you look back on your life in thirty years, what would it take for you to consider your life successful?

Scholarship: CSU Long Beach President's Scholars Program
Sponsor/Organization: CSU Long Beach
Scholarship Amount: Full tuition, room and board, book allowance at CSU Long Beach and guaranteed acceptance into the university honors program.
Eligibility: Open to high school valedictorians (or ranked first in class), National Merit Finalists and Semifinalists, National Achievement and National Hispanic Recognition scholars. Students must apply to CSU Long Beach by November 30.

Scholarship: Mensa Education and Research Foundation Scholarship
Sponsor/Organization: Mensa Foundation
Eligibility: 1. The applicant must currently be a resident of a participating American Mensa Local Group's area. (There is a San Francisco group.)
2. The applicant must be enrolled in a degree program in an accredited U.S. institution of higher learning during the academic year following the application date.
3. The applicant must submit an application and essay explaining his or her career, academic and/or vocational goals.

Scholarship: Ron Brown Scholar Program
Scholarship Amount: Up to 20 students will receive $10,000 per year for four years.
Eligibility: The Ron Brown Scholar Program seeks to identify African-American high school seniors who will make significant contributions to society. Applicants must excel academically, exhibit exceptional leadership potential, participate in community service activities and demonstrate financial need. The applicant must be a US citizen or hold a permanent resident visa card.

Scholarship: MetroPCS Community Scholars Program
Sponsor/Organization: MetroPCS and Kyocera
Scholarship Amount: One $25,000 grand prize scholarship and 83 $2500 community scholarships
Eligibility: Open to high-school seniors planning to enroll in a two- or four-year college or university with a minimum 3.0 gpa and demonstrated involvement in volunteerism in community organizations and participation in activities that give back to the students' community and their school.

Scholarship: CH2M HILL Scholarship
Sponsor/Organization: CH2M HILL
Scholarship Amount: First prize – $500.00; Second Prize –$300.00; Third Prize - $200.00
Eligibility: CH2M HILL, a global engineering and environmental services company with a local office in Oakland, has a long history of encouraging and mentoring students interested in an engineering career. We have established a college scholarship to help finance a college education majoring in engineering.
To apply, high school seniors must submit:
1. A 500-word biographical essay discussing your interest in engineering, or
2. Build a widget or something expressing your interest in the field of engineering.
Entries will be judged on originality of thought and quality of submittal.
