Scholarship: Northern California Scholarship Foundations

Sponsor/Organization: Northern California Scholarship Foundations

Scholarship Amount: $7000 a year for four years.

Eligibility: In order to receive a scholarship from the Northern California Scholarship Foundation you must be a high school senior attending a Northern or Central California public school. Scholars will only receive an application if they are nominated by their high school counselor. Students should have financial need, high gpa and SAT scores, outstanding moral character, participate in extracurricular activities, have a clear idea of which college courses they intend to pursue and some idea of what they intend to do for their life work. Interested students should see Ms. Johnson by Jan. 20. 

Application Deadline: Counselor must nominate Jan. 20.

Shell Oil Company Technical Scholarship Program

Scholarship: Shell Oil Company Technical Scholarship Program 

Scholarship Amount: $2500 first year, renewable at $5000 per year.

Eligibility: The Shell Oil Company Technical Scholarship Program focuses on developing talent in the engineering and geosciences field by providing assistance to graduating high school seniors who have expressed an interest in the energy industry and demonstrated an aptitude in mathematics and science. Plan to enroll full-time in one of the following majors (geology, geophysics, physics, chemical, civil, electrical, geological, geophysical, mechanical or petroleum engineering) at one of these schools: Colorado School of Mines, Cornell, Florida A&M, Georgia Institute of Technology, Louisiana State Univ, Baton Rouge; MIT, Michigan State U, North Carolina A&T Univ, Ohio State, Columbus; Penn State, Prairie View A&M, Rice U, Stanford U, Texas A&M, U of Colorado, Boulder; U of Houston, Univ Park; U of Illinois, Champaign Urbana; U of Oklahoma, Norman; U of Texas, Austin; U of Texas, El Paso.

QuestBridge National College Match Scholarship

Scholarship: QuestBridge College Prep Scholarship

Scholarship Amount: Early admission and scholarship opportunities to participating schools (Amherst College, Bowdoin College, Brown University, Caltech, University of Chicago, Columbia University, Emory University, Haverford College, MIT, Northwestern University, University of Notre Dame, Oberlin College, Parsons The New School for Design, University of Pennsylvania, Pomona College, Princeton University, Rice University, Scripps College, Stanford University, Swarthmore College, Trinity College, Vassar College, Washington and Lee University, Wellesley College, Wesleyan University, Williams College, Williams College: Tyng Scholarship, Yale University).

Eligibility: High school senior; Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident (except if applying to Pomona, Princeton, or Yale) with an annual family income below $60,000. Maintain a level of academic achievement that meets or exceeds the admissions standards of our partner colleges. Must take SAT I/II or ACT prior to deadline.

Chevron Black History Awareness Celebration Scholarship Contest

Scholarship: Chevron Black History Awareness Celebration Scholarship Contest

Sponsor/Organization: Chevron's Black History Awareness Committee

Scholarship Amount: 1st prize $4000; 2nd prize $2500; 3rd prize $1500

Eligibility: Open to seniors at participating high schools (Tech is participating) who maintain a 2.5 gpa, plan to attend a two or four year college or university, demonstrate leadership ability, involved with community or extracurricular activities and US citizen or legal residents. Students write a 500-700 word essay.
