Scholarship Amount: $1000. One award will be granted to an Oakland Tech student.

Eligibility: Open to 12th grade students at Oakland Tech. 500-1000 word essay on this topic: "Spirituality comes in many forms. Pick a particular moment from a book or story that you have read and discuss why that moment seems spiritual to you and/or what spiritual issues it raises."

Scholarship: Tom Kitayama Jr. Memorial Scholarship

Sponsor/Organization: Alameda County Farm Bureau

Scholarship Amount: $500

Eligibility: Open to students in Alameda County eligible to attend college in the coming school year with plans to major in agriculture or a related field (includes forestry, nutritional sciences, environmental management and water science). Selection criteria includes: scholastic achievement, leadership ability, participation in agricultural activities, community involvement and extracurricular school activities.

CIF / Farmers Scholar-Athlete of the Year

Scholarship: CIF / Farmers Scholar-Athlete of the Year

Sponsor/Organization: California Interscholastic Federation and Farmers Insurance Group

Scholarship Amount: The two State winners – 1 boy and 1 girl -- will each receive a $5,000 scholarship. The 20 Section winners – 1 boy and 1 girl each per CIF Section – will receive a $2,000 scholarship.

Eligibility: Students must: 1. Possess no less than an unweighted umulative (grades 9-12) grade point average of 3.50; 2. Have demonstrated superior athletic ability in at least two years of varsity play within California (must be participating in athletics as a senior); and 3. Most of all have portrayed themselves as athletes of character displaying trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, community service and citizenship.
