Scholarship: Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Alpha Nu Omega Chapter, Scholarships

Scholarship Amount: $1000
Eligibility: Various scholarships. Students can apply only for one:
Ellen Greer Posey Scholarship, $1000. African American female or male attending an Oakland public high school, 2.8 gpa or above.
Ida Louise Jackson Scholarship, $1000. African American female attending high school in Alameda or Contra Costa county, minimum gpa of 3.0 and planning to attend UC Berkeley or an historically Black college or university.

Scholarship: ABC7 Top Scholars

Scholarship Amount: Six $1000 scholarships
Eligibility: Criteria:
Student must be a high school senior graduating in Spring 2010 and committed to earning a college degree.
Minimum GPA of 3.7.
Student must be a US citizen or permanent resident.
Student must be available to be interviewed on camera.
KGO-TV/DT must receive an official school transcript by 8:00PM on Wednesday, March 31, 2010.
Student must fully complete application form, including all attachments listed on Page 3 of this application, due to KGO-TV/DT by 8:00PM on Wednesday, March 31, 2010.
Incomplete applications will not be eligible for the ABC7 Top Scholars program.
Applicant must be nominated by his or her school. Applications may be obtained from counseling office.

Scholarship: Youth Opportunities Foundation Scholarship
Sponsor/Organization: Youth Opportunities Foundation (YOF)
Scholarship Amount: $200-$500
Eligibility: This scholarship is available to graduating high school seniors in California and is based on academic achievement. Applicants must be active in their school or community and must demonstrate financial need. Students whose parents earn more than $50,000 a year are not eligible. Students should rank in the top 10 percent of their class and score at least 1000 on the SATs. AP classes, leadership skills and community activities will be weighed toward consideration. Must be California resident. At least one parent must be of Hispanic descent. Students must write to foundation for an application.

Scholarship: Thai American Scholarship

Scholarship Amount: Two scholarships of $1,000; Scholarship is renewable for one year.
Eligibility: Assists students of Thai heritage from Northern California in relieving the costs of a college education and to encourage participation in programs that instill appreciation and knowledge of Thai culture among Thai-American youth.
Eligibility Criteria:
Incoming freshman or current, full-time undergraduate student enrolled in an accredited, four-year college or university;
Thai heritage (at least 50 percent); other Southeast Asian backgrounds, including Lao, Cambodian or various Thai ethnic minority groups, will also be considered;
Minimum grade-point average of 3.3;
Demonstrates financial need;
Preference given to students involved in community service;
Bay Area or Sacramento county residency.

Scholarship: Jack and Jeanette Chu Scholarship Fund
Sponsor/Organization: Asian Pacific Fund
Scholarship Amount: One scholarship of $5,000, renewable for a total of four years, will be awarded to an incoming freshman.
Eligibility: The Jack and Jeanette Chu Scholarship Fund supports incoming UC Berkeley students majoring in either 1) business administration or 2) a field of study leading to a career in education.
Eligibility Criteria:
Incoming freshman intending to major in either business administration (Haas School of Business) or an education-related field at UC Berkeley;
Asian heritage (at least 50 percent); preference given to students of Chinese heritage;
Minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.0;
Commitment to pursuing a career in business or education;
Preference given to students who have lived in Central America;
Preference given to students with a record of community service.
