Scholarship: PG&E Hispanic Employees Association

Sponsor/Organization: Hispanic Employees Association of Pacific Gas and Electric Company

Scholarship Amount: $500 up to $1,000

Eligibility: An applicant must be enrolled in college or planning to attend college in the fall of 2011. All eligible applicants must live within the PG&E service territory and must be able to provide a copy of a PG&E bill, upon request. A phone interview may be conducted at the discretion of the HEA Scholarship Committee. Applicants are required to submit all of the following: • HEA Scholarship Application and Supplement • Copy of cumulative GPA (current official transcript) • Letter of recommendation submitted by a teacher, faculty member, or school counselor • An essay: two pages (maximum) double-spaced, 12-point font • A PG&E bill, upon request (as proof of living within the PG&E Service Territory)

Chinese American Citizens Alliance National Essay Contest

Scholarship: Chinese American Citizens Alliance National Essay Contest

Sponsor/Organization: The Grand Lodge of the Chinese American Citizens Alliance

Scholarship Amount: 1st Prize - $1000; 2nd Prize - $700; 3rd Prize - $500; 10 Merit Awards - $100; All come with certificate

Eligibility: This is an essay contest open to all students enrolled in a senior high school, grades 9-12; Entrants write an essay at the Chinese American Citizens Alliance Lodge in Oakland on March 6 from 10am to 12 noon. Students must submit a registration form by March 1.
