2012 APCA Scholarship Program

  

Scholarship Amount: Ten (10) scholarships of $2,000 each

Eligibility: • High school seniors • Minimum 3.20 GPA on 4-point scale, or 4.0 on 5-point scale. • Any ethnic or cultural background.

Doctor’s On Board Program

   

Eligibility: • African American seniors • Juniors maybe accepted. 

Application Deadline: 2/3/12

Additional Information: This program will provide students an opportunity to explore some of the varied facets of medicine and provide information about medical school preparation. The Physicians Medical Forum’s “Doctors On Board Program” to be held on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at the Oakland Marriott City Center. Applications are available in the scholarship drawer.

Fabric of Society College Scholarship Program

Scholarship: Fabric of Society College Scholarship Program 

Scholarship Amount: $2,000. 25 California schools were chosen (including Oakland Tech) and there will be one winner from each school.

Eligibility: Open to seniors. Write a 600-800 word essay from Maya Angelou quote: “Each of us, famous or infamous, is a role model for somebody, and if we aren’t we should behave as though we are – cheerful, kind, loving courteous. Because you can be sure someone is watching and taking deliberate and diligent notes.”

HSF/Clorox Gracias Mamá Scholarship Program

Scholarship: HSF/Clorox Gracias Mamá Scholarship Program

Sponsor/Organization: HSF/Clorox

Scholarship Amount: $12,000

Eligibility: Applicants are required to submit a 500-word essay detailing the role their mother or mother figure has played in their education. Fifteen finalists will be selected and given a camera to create a video on how their mother influenced their decision to attend college. The videos will be uploaded to the Clorox Latino Facebook page for fans to support their favorite finalists. Five winners will be selected based on HSF selection criteria. In addition to the $12,000 scholarship, each will receive a $500 spa day certificate for their mom.
