Scholarship: Fabric of Society College Scholarship Program 

Scholarship Amount: $2,000. 25 California schools were chosen (including Oakland Tech) and there will be one winner from each school.

Eligibility: Open to seniors. Write a 600-800 word essay from Maya Angelou quote: “Each of us, famous or infamous, is a role model for somebody, and if we aren’t we should behave as though we are – cheerful, kind, loving courteous. Because you can be sure someone is watching and taking deliberate and diligent notes.”

Eligibility: Asian Pacific Fund offers 17 programs and 37 scholarships. Most but not all are for Asian students. See the website for details. Scholarship Amount: Scholarships provided directly to college or university.

Eligibility: This scholarship is for high school seniors and students who will be attending a college, university or vocational school in the United States as a freshman during the 2012-2013 academic year. Applicants should have demonstrated outstanding personal achievements, academic merit, leadership qualities and/or community service. Special consideration will be noted for applicants: • with a demonstrated financial need; • with parents who did not attend college; • with a documented disability; • who have overcome significant adversity; or • who have parents that are United States veterans or are currently in the U.S. military. To be considered for this scholarship, an applicant is required to: • Be currently a high school senior in good standing and anticipate enrolling at a U.S. accredited college/university or vocational program in the 2011-2012 academic year as a freshman. • Have a minimum, cumulative, un-weighted grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent). Students not on a 4.0 grading scale must convert their GPA to a 4.0 scale before submitting an application to the Foundation. • Have a minimum SAT score of 1800 (out of 2400) or a minimum ACT score of 25. • Have at least two reference letters, one of which must be from a current or former teacher in an academic subject. • Submit personal statements as further described in this packet. • Have applied to a U.S. college/university or vocational program, either full-time or substantial part-time, and plan to enroll in a minimum of two terms for the school year (verified by submitting a copy of the acceptance letter from the college or university as soon such acceptance letter is available). • Submit to interviews in person or by phone, if requested.

Scholarship Amount: Up to $9700 per year

Eligibility: If you're a graduating high school senior or recent graduate, meet academic, financial and eligibility requirements and submit two forms by March 2, you may receive a Cal Grant! With a Cal Grant you can get up to $9,700 a year to pay for college expenses at any qualifying California college, university or career or technical school in California. Depending on which Cal Grant you get, the money can be used for tuition, room and board, even books and pencils. The best part is, it's yours to keep and you don't have to pay it back. Here's How to Apply. Submit the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) between January 1 and March 2 and submit a verified Cal Grant GPA anytime between November and the March 2 deadline. Scholarship Amount: Up to $7500 per year for four years

Eligibility: Be a graduating, minority high school senior; Plan to attend an accredited and approved four–year institution within the United States; Show leadership potential; Demonstrate a dedication to community service; Present evidence of financial need; Be a United States citizen; A minimum SAT score of 1,000 combined on the math and critical reading sections or a composite ACT score of 21; and Not possess a degree from a 2 or 4–year College when applying for the scholarship.

Scholarship: Scholar Athlete Milk Mustache of the Year (SAMMY) Award Program

Sponsor/Organization: America's Milk Processors (Got Milk?), USA TODAY, American Association of School Administrators, the National Association for Sport and Physical Education, the American School Counselor Association and the National School Public Relations Association.

Scholarship Amount: $7,500 college scholarship

Eligibility: Judging of the nominees will be based on five criteria: academic performance (35%), athletic excellence (35%), leadership (15%), community service (10%) and milk experience essay (5%). Preliminary judging will be conducted by a qualified group of educators and coaches who will select 75 finalists. A panel of celebrity athletes from the Milk Mustache campaign will then choose the 25 winners.

Scholarship: David Curtis Stringer Memorial Scholarship

Scholarship Amount: $500

Eligibility: Applicant must be planning on attending a college or trade school majoring in Fine Arts (traditional, graphic, media etc...) or music. Must attend school in Northern California, be at least a sophomore in high school and hold a GPA of 2.0 or better. Art work must be submitted with application. Art work can not measure larger than 11 by 14 or 18 inches tall if sculpture and can be of any type of material. Art work will not be returned and may be auctioned out in a scholarship fund raiser during scholarship ceremony with your permission or put on display by Ed's Place for public and judges review. Those applying under music shall submit a short CD or video with music sample. By submitting this application you acknowledge that you understand these conditions and understand that CD's, and DVD's and artwork can not be returned.
