The Art Institutes Best Teen Chef CompetitionFirst-place local winners will be flown, along with one parent or legal guardian, to Houston, TX, to compete in the national finals. Following an introductory reception on May 14, 2010, the competitors will face off on May 15, 2010 to compete for tuition scholarships and the coveted title of Best Teen Chef. Each finalist will prepare a meal under the watchful eyes of professional chefs, and have their creations judged on criteria including taste, presentation, and culinary techniques. CIF / Farmers Scholar-Athlete of the YearThe two State winners – 1 boy and 1 girl -- will each receive a $5,000 scholarship. Youth Opportunities Foundation Scholarship$200-$500March 31, 2010This scholarship is available to graduating high school seniors in California and is based on academic achievement. Applicants must be active in their school or community and must demonstrate financial need. Students whose parents earn more than $50,000 a year are not eligible. Students should rank in the top 10 percent of their class and score at least 1000 on the SATs. AP classes, leadership skills and community activities will be weighed toward consideration. Must be California resident. At least one parent must be of Hispanic descent. Students must write to foundation for an application.

PG&E Latino Employee Resource Group Scholarships30 scholarships of up to $1500January 17, 2012Qualifying Requirements: An applicant must be enrolled in college or planning to attend college in the fall. All eligible applicants must live within the PG&E service territory. The scholarships are awarded based on the information furnished by the applicant and evaluation by the Latino ERG Scholarship Committee. A phone interview may be conducted at the discretion of the Latino ERG Scholarship Committee. HSF/Clorox Gracias Mamá Scholarship Program$12,000January 17, 2012Applicants are required to submit a 500-word essay detailing the role their mother or mother figure has played in their education. Fifteen finalists will be selected and given a camera to create a video on how their mother influenced their decision to attend college. The videos will be uploaded to the Clorox Latino Facebook page for fans to support their favorite finalists. Five winners will be selected based on HSF selection criteria. In addition to the $12,000 scholarship, each will receive a $500 spa day certificate for their mom. Eligibility Requirements: * Be of Hispanic Heritage * Be a U.S. Citizen, legal permanent resident or eligible Non-U.S. citizen * Must be a four-year college freshman (in 2012-2013) enrolled full-time at a U.S. accredited institution in the U.S., Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands or Guam. * Have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale * All Majors allowed * Must apply for federal financial aid by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
Northern California Scholarship Foundations$7000 a year for four years.January 20, 2012In order to receive a scholarship from the Northern California Scholarship Foundation you must be a high school senior attending a Northern or Central California public school. Scholars will only receive an application if they are nominated by their high school counselor. Students should have financial need, high gpa and SAT scores, outstanding moral character, participate in extracurricular activities, have a clear idea of which college courses they intend to pursue and some idea of what they intend to do for their life work.
