| CH2M HILL Scholarship | First prize – $500.00; Second Prize –$300.00; Third Prize - $200.00 | November 20, 2009 | CH2M HILL, a global engineering and environmental services company with a local office in Oakland, has a long history of encouraging and mentoring students interested in an engineering career. We have established a college scholarship to help finance a college education majoring in engineering.
To apply, high school seniors must submit:
1. A 500-word biographical essay discussing your interest in engineering, or
2. Build a widget or something expressing your interest in the field of engineering.
Entries will be judged on originality of thought and quality of submittal.

| The Art Institutes Best Teen Chef Competition | First-place local winners will be flown, along with one parent or legal guardian, to Houston, TX, to compete in the national finals. Following an introductory reception on May 14, 2010, the competitors will face off on May 15, 2010 to compete for tuition scholarships and the coveted title of Best Teen Chef. Each finalist will prepare a meal under the watchful eyes of professional chefs, and have their creations judged on criteria including taste, presentation, and culinary techniques.

Take a ten-question multiple-choice test. This is an open-book test and you may print the essay beforehand for reference during testing. For each question answered correctly, students will receive one (1) entry into a drawing for one of ten $2,000 scholarships. For each question answered incorrectly, you will be given one more chance at the end of the exam to answer those questions correctly. A total of ten (10) entries into the drawing is possible if the student answers all ten questions correctly.
Each student is allowed only one opportunity to take the online test. Any attempt to enter again under a different name, address, etc., will automatically disqualify the student without notification to the student.
Students selected as winners are required to submit the name and contact information of their chosen college/university/certified trade school for verification of registration and payment of the scholarship to the school. This year the PTSA will award four $500 scholarships to graduating seniors who will attend a post-secondary educational institution in 2013. --A typed essay of approximately 250 words on why animals are important to you.
--An original work of art, such as a drawing of animals, a poem, a song, or a short story, etc.
