Thank you for your interest in learning about the Oakland Tech community and in exploring all of the reasons and ways we’re Bulldog proud.
Each fall, prospective families are invited to attend one or more events: an Information Night in November, campus tours from mid-November to mid-December, and for current 8th grade students, the opportunity to shadow a 9th grade Tech student.
Tours are open to both prospective students and parents or guardians. Due to the limited number of spots available, we request that only current 8th grade families sign up. RSVPs are required as it will help with group organization. We begin promptly at 9:15 a.m. with a presentation in the Tech auditorium (42nd St. near Broadway-doors will open at 9 a.m.) followed by guided tours of the campus, including classroom visits, led by current students. Tours conclude around 10:45 a.m.
Shadow day visits for prospective incoming 9th grade students are available from Nov. 12 through Dec. 13, 2019. Please note that shadow days are limited to current 8th grade students only, and all students who wish to participate must be registered at least 48 hours in advance by a parent or guardian. Shadow day visits are limited to 10 per day, so not all who submit a request can be confirmed for their first choice. The request form linked below provides more details about shadow day timing and procedures.
The OUSD enrollment season for the next school year ends in late January. Details about the enrollment process are available on the OUSD Web site. Families are notified of student placement in early March, which allows time to appeal (if desired) and to finalize enrollment prior to the end of the current school year.
Even if students are too late to apply during the initial enrollment period, OUSD’s system allows late applicants to access available spaces throughout the district.
Please note that all enrollment decisions are made at the district level, not by the Oakland Tech administration.
