We’re thrilled to announce that Tech’s award-winning OakTech Rep drama program has received a prestigious honor from the American Theatre Wing (the creators of the “Tony” Awards) through its
Andrew Lloyd Webber Initiative’s “Classroom Resource Grant” —
$25,428 toward the purchase of lighting equipment for the Tech auditorium, including two new followspots and energy-saving LED instruments.
This year the grant awarded a total of $240,000 to 14 schools across the country. We were selected based on OakTech Rep’s emphasis on training through a professional model to better prepare students for college and career. This was the first time Tech applied for the Andrew Lloyd Webber Initiative’s “Classroom Resource Grant,” and only the second year of the grant itself.
Join us for our spring drama production, “She Kills Monsters,” running April 19 through 21, when the new lighting will be on full display, followed by the spring music concert on May 3, and, last but certainly not least, the spring dance production, which will be May 18, 19 and 20.
We are crossing our fingers that we might even have some of the new equipment in time for this February’s dance production celebrating Black History Month on Friday Feb. 23 at 7 PM.
