I want to remind families that finals begin on Tuesday, Dec. 18 and continue through Friday, Dec. 22. Be sure to review this modified schedule for finals week.As you’ll see, students will follow their regular schedules on Monday, Dec. 17 and will have adjusted schedules for the remainder of the week. To accommodate a 0-period final on Tuesday from 8-10 AM, students will be dismissed at 3:45 PM, a bit later than usual. Students will be released at 1:20 PM on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Please note that AC Transit is only slightly modifying its bus schedule to accommodate the finals schedule. Buses will pick up students at the bus stops at the regular time on Tuesday, and at 2:30 PM on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
Finals can be stressful for both parents and students. To help alleviate some of the stress, please encourage your child(ren) not to wait to the last minute to study; many of our students begin studying the week before. Teachers will provide clarity about the content that will be covered on the final exam. If your student needs extra support, s/he should communicate this to the teacher immediately.
PTSA Meeting, Dec. 10
We are still in the process of planning for the implementation of the Sandy Hook Promise program, so we are not quite ready to share the details. However, at Monday night’s PTSA meeting, I will share information and discuss safety issues at Tech. I am also hoping that our head School Security Officer, Fred Trotter, will be able to attend and answer any questions. Hope to see you at the meeting.
