All Bulldog students and parents are invited to join the Oakland Tech Equity team for its fourth annual Equity Listening Forum on Thursday, April 25, from 6 to 8 PM, in the library. Dinner will be served at 5:45 PM, and childcare will be provided free of charge. We expect the meeting to conclude at 8 PM.

Why an Equity Forum?

The purpose of this forum is to develop a shared understanding of our current successes and challenges as a school community. We want to consider ways the entire Tech community can support teachers and administrators as we continue to work for equity for all students. Equity of access, equity of opportunity & equity of outcomes.

Currently, one in seven Tech students is not on track for graduation. One in three will not fulfill the requirements for UC or California State college admission.

As a community of parents, students, teachers and administrators, we will discuss this data and learn about steps the school is taking to support students. We will also see how the school is allocating voter approved Measure N funding to improve student outcomes.

Our speakers will be students whose experiences at Tech have supported them to get back on track for graduation. And we will hear from Principal Staci Morrison about what is working and about what support the community can provide.

Our goal is to ensure more students graduate each year with access to college and career opportunities.

We hope you can join us!
