It’s Time for the Bulldog Closet Donation Drive

It’s that time of year for the annual Bulldog Closet donation drive!

As a reminder, the Bulldog Closet is a resource that provides hygiene products, clothing items, school supplies, and other items such as laundry detergent for members of the OUSD community experiencing housing insecurity or whose families do not have the resources to purchase them themselves.

This year we have the opportunity to help Piedmont Elementary, a school with far less resources establish their own Bulldog Closet. Piedmont Elementary is a diverse school serving grades K-5 with 70.7% of its students qualifying for free or reduced lunch. While the donation items remain the same, if you would like to donate to Piedmont please keep in mind they are grades K-5 when making purchases. Also for now we are focusing solely on hygiene supplies for Piedmont, which would be;

Deodorant

Conditioner

Body wash/bar soap

Mouthwash

Lotion

Brushes & combs

Feminine hygiene pads

Chapstick

3-ply tissue packs

Laundry detergent

Donations can be dropped off in the front office or to room 110A, as well as shipping items directly to the school. Address any shipments to the attention of School Nurse Amanda Epperson/Room 110A. Please contact Nurse Amanda at (530) 618-7889, or Amanda.Epperson@ousd.org for any questions, or additional information you may need.

NOTE: We are only accepting new and unused items, please do not donate used clothing, hygiene items, etc.

Additionally, monetary donations can be made directly to the PTSA Bulldog Closet account to be used for specialized purchases through Amazon. For example, this year I’ve been able to purchase swimsuits for the students unable to afford them to participate in PE class.

This year we are asking for these specific items for donation;

Grocery gift cards in increments of $25, for $25-$100

Granola bars

Single serve mac and cheese

Single serve oatmeal

Canned chicken – with pull tab

Canned tuna – with pull tab

Single serve Applesauce/fruit cups

Peanut butter

Single packet crackers

Generic gift cards/gift cards to Target/gift cards to Amazon

I encourage everyone to hold drives in their own classrooms, workplaces, church communities etc. As the Bulldog Closet expands we are attempting to help OUSD students experience a more equitable environment, as well as communicating that all communities, not just theirs, cares about their well-being and success.

Please let me know if you have any questions!”
