The District has put together a Principal Research Committee to conduct interviews of candidates for the position based on voting that occurred at stakeholder meetings this week. The parents selected for the committee are Jamila Long, Tandra DeBose, Rachelle Rogers Ard, and Andrea Dooley. Zsanna Secrease will participate as an alternate. The other members of the PRC are teachers, students, and staff, and the meetings will be facilitated by a district staff person. We will be meeting next week to discuss criteria, and then will start interviewing candidates the following three Tuesdays.

Before we begin, we want to invite ALL MEMBERS OF OUR COMMUNITY (parents, students, staff, teachers, and community members) to share your thoughts, questions, hopes, values, and ideas about what you want in the next Oakland Tech principal. Email messages sent to PRC2020@Oaklandtech.com go to every member of the PRC and we look forward to hearing from each and every one of you. If you would prefer to share your thoughts with another parent, a teacher, a student, a staff member, or a community member of the PRC, please send us an email indicating that, and one of those members will follow up. The full list (without links to individual email addresses, out of respect for those members) is below. We’ll keep this email address open PRC2020@oaklandtech.com throughout the process, so feel free to weigh in with new ideas and questions throughout the month.

In addition to the parents identified above, the PRC includes Gynelle McBride, Debra Carter-Kelly, Keith Debro, Max Stern, Nia McDuffie, Amy Martinez, Jeff Dillon, Stephen Raser, and Sara Ketcham.

We look forward to hearing from you!
