Dear Oakland Tech Families,
I hope this message finds you well and in good health.
As you may already know, Ms. Morrison recently announced that after 15 years of serving the Oakland Tech community, she will be stepping away from her position as Principal at the end of this school year. Such decisions are never easy to make, and on behalf of OUSD and the High School Network, we thank her for the love, commitment, and passion she has put into making Oakland Tech an amazing school for students, teachers, and staff. We wish her the best as she embarks on this new chapter of her career.
Given Ms. Morrison’s pending transition, we will form a Principal Recommendation Committee (PRC) to aid in the search for a new principal at Oakland Tech. Per OUSD Board Policy, all PRCs include 4 parents in addition to representatives from other constituent groups. More information about the criteria for selecting PRC representatives can be found in OUSD’s Board Policy 4500 and Admin Regulation 4500.
If you would like to learn more about the principal selection process or are interested in volunteering to serve on the PRC, I invite you to join me for a virtual meeting on Wednesday, May 6th from 4-5pm via Zoom. We will share information about the principal selection process and will vote for PRC members during this meeting.
If you are interested in nominating yourself to serve as a parent/family representative on the PRC, I encourage you to draft a 2-minute long interest statement and be prepared to share it at Wednesday’s meeting.
To ensure everyone’s safety and security, we will release the meeting link and dial-in numbers to individuals who RSVP via THIS LINK or leave a message at (510) 879-3122. Please RSVP by 6pm on Tuesday, May 5th so we have sufficient time to send you the information prior to the meeting. If you RSVP by phone, please include your name, telephone number, email address, and the name and grade of your Oakland Tech student in the message.
*Please note: this meeting is for Oakland Tech parents/families. Separate meetings will be held for other constituent groups (teachers/staff, students, and community partners).
If you have questions, please contact me at (510) 879-3122 or via email at firstname.lastname@example.org. I look forward to our meeting and engaging with you throughout the principal selection process.
