Good Evening Bulldogs,

Thank you for being flexible while the Oakland Tech teachers and staff adapted in an effort to provide instruction, care, services and support from a distance. We will continue to look at best practices and prepare ourselves for the many unknowns of next year. Presently we are not certain of how school will look next year, but the Tech staff is committed to preparing for multiple scenarios to ensure we are prepared for the next school year. This memo will provide closing of school information.

Book Return & Locker Retrieval: Drive-Through Process & Schedule

  1. Cars will enter campus through the main gate on 45th Street. Tables will be set up along the driveway path. Books will be dropped off on the tables. There will be staff available to help those needing assistance.
  2. Cars will exit campus on 42nd Street.
  3. Students needing to return musical Instruments can drop them off on the tables outside of the Music Room as you proceed out of campus.
  4. School staff will NOT be on campus to collect their items. If you have items that belong to teachers, coaches, or the school, you will be able to drop them off. Please bring them labeled with the teacher’s name and your name.
  5. Any student needing to retrieve important personal belongings from a locker will proceed to the front of the school where there will be a check-in station.
  6. Oakland Tech staff will clean all lockers. All books will be checked in for students. Students do not need to enter the school to return a book to the book room. ALL other items will be thrown away.

Locker Retrieval of Personal Items:

We are limiting the number of bodies on campus for the purpose of encouraging social distancing and the safety of all students, staff and volunteers. Please be mindful of your spacing and pay attention to markers present throughout campus. We have created a very tight schedule and students will have a maximum of 10 minutes to get on and off campus. Students will be able to have access to gym lockers. Students must come during their assigned times and will not be allowed to remain on campus once they have collected their things.

Ten (10) students will be allowed on campus at any one time. Only students will be allowed on campus to complete this process. If the student needs support to gather personal belongings from their locker, a family member will be allowed to accompany the student. No one may be on campus if they are exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms, or if they or someone in their household has a confirmed case within the previous three weeks. All persons entering campus MUST wear a mask.

Below are the times for students to return books, musical instruments and school belongings. The letters next to each time block represent the first initial of the student’s last name. For example, students with the last name starting with the letters A through C are to come to school on Thursday between 9:00 am and 10:00 am. All students from any given group should be off campus by the end of their given time period.

We plan to finish the yearbook by Friday. This process was delayed because Mr. Heckel no longer had his amazing team of youngsters to help create the pages, but Mr. Heckel is determined to finish by Friday. The company that prints our yearbook is working with a reduced staff, which has impacted production as well, thus yearbooks will be ready to distribute at the end of June. You will receive updates about the yearbook in the upcoming weeks.

We are processing AP and Prom refunds. If the need is urgently please email me ( and I will work to expedite your refund. We ordered additional checks and are continuing to distribute the refunds.
