School NewsComments Off on 2021 Oakland Tech Auction: Mark Your Calendars!
Every year the Oakland Tech community — teachers, administrators, parents, students and local businesses — comes together to celebrate our support for one another with the OT-PTSA’s biggest fundraiser, the Spring Auction. Why do we raise money? As a community, we want to take care of each other and support the many activities — academics, clubs, field trips, sports teams and learning opportunities — that make Tech a place where our 2,200 students can thrive and lay the groundwork for success beyond high school.
This year, however, has been extraordinarily challenging, requiring an unprecedented level of support for digital instruction and online learning that has been almost impossible to anticipate. Moreover, we can’t physically come together at our annual auction gala event where we mingle while eating, drinking, bidding and rallying each other to make money for the school. So we’re doing the auction a bit differently this year.
Our theme is “Mask-erade” and we’ll first start with an Online Auction that will open on Saturday, March 6, and close a week later on Saturday, March 13, and effectively encompass the Silent Auction we normally have at the gala. Second, we’ll have a Virtual Gala Event — which will include the Live Auction, Paddle Raise, and raffle drawings — on the evening of Saturday, March 13. Mark your calendars!
Please stay tuned in the following weeks as we start to roll out details on how exactly you can help us, especially with making donations, hosting parties or becoming a sponsor. We look forward to bringing our community together to make “Mask-erade” a great success. Questions or interested in helping? Please contact auction chair Teresa Tauchi at firstname.lastname@example.org.
