New Social Connection Program for Oakland Tech Students

School NewsComments Off on New Social Connection Program for Oakland Tech Students

The PTSA is introducing a pilot program called Tech Connect, a way for students to meet up. This new social connection program offers 1-hour meetups for students around a shared interest. Students choose the topics! Juniors and Seniors will serve as Social Coordinators, hosting and facilitating the virtual meetups via Zoom. These are paid positions and require a commitment: 1 hour training session and 4 hosted meetups. Schedule TBD but we hope for weekly sessions starting on January 18.

Some ideas: gaming (Minecraft, Among Us), TikTok, anime, comic books, RC planes, cars, boats, model building, music, beauty/fashion tutorial fans, pet owners unite (e.g. reptiles/birds/guinea pigs!), sports fans, movies, board games, chess, art, painting, drawing.

Parents and caregivers, we need your help! Can you please encourage your students to join? For all grades, here’s the form to fill out about interests. And here’s the form for juniors and seniors to apply to be a social coordinator for Tech Connect. Deadline for filling out form: end of Friday, Jan. 8.
