Every two seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood. It is essential for surgeries, cancer treatment, chronic illnesses, and traumatic injuries. Whether a patient receives whole blood, red cells, platelets or plasma, this lifesaving care starts with one person making a generous donation. Blood donations are always needed due to the short shelf life and are more important than ever due to COVID.
The Oakland Technical High School Red Cross Club is hosting a blood drive! In order to get our blood drive off the ground we need at least 35+ donors to sign up. Once we have enough donors the American Red Cross will partner with us to set up location and time. COVID guidelines will be followed. Sign up and donate to be entered into a raffle for a chance to win a prize from the Health Academy! Donors must be 16+, have no underlying health conditions, weigh at least 110lbs, and cannot be on medications (like antibiotics).
