We are announcing a new Culinary Arts Dual Enrollment Program in partnership with Laney College this coming Spring 2022 for students interested in exploring more about a career in Culinary Arts & Hospitality. This is an amazing opportunity for students who are interested in:

  • Learning directly from a Laney/OUSD instructor and Chef who has over 20+ years in the food and hospitality industry
  • Being a chef, home cook, or working in the food, restaurant, or hospitality industries
  • Gaining experience with kitchen + food equipment to learn professional health, safety, and food preparation
  • Taking a field trip to a local hotel and restaurant to tour an industry-standard kitchen
  • Cooking meals and dishes in a professional kitchen

This program will enroll students in two DE college courses as a single OUSD cohort: CULIN 214: Hospitality Careers and Skills Development + CULIN 218: Ingredients and Equipment.

  • Units: 2 Peralta units = 7 OUSD “g” elective credits (featuring GPA boost)
  • Days/times: In-person on Wednesdays 3:00-5:00 pm (January 26-May 25)
  • Transportation: AC Transit Bus Passes and Bart passes will be provided to interested students on the first day of class
  • Dinner: will be provided (students will help prepare it!)
  • OUSD Transcripts automatically updated with CULIN 214 & CULIN 218 credits & GPA boost end of semester.
