Greetings, Oakland Tech Community, and Happy New Year!

As we begin 2022, Oakland Tech is forming our Site English Language Learner Subcommittee. Our first meeting will be on ​Google Meet, so that we can provide translations during the meeting ​using Chat. All families of English Learner students are welcome. Your student does not need to be in an ELD class in order to join the committee. Please see how to join the meeting in the announcement below.

Federal Education Code requires schools with 21 or more English Language Learners (ELL) to establish a school level advisory committee composed primarily of parents of ELLs to provide the following:

  1. Advise the school site council (SSC) on the development of the Single School Plan for Student Achievement.
  2. Advise the principal and staff on the school’s program for English learners.
  3. Assist in the development of the school’s needs assessment
  4. Help to make parents aware of the importance of regular school attendance
