Wilbur Hunt Stevens ’34
Wilbur graduated from Tech in 1934 at the age of sixteen. He married in 1941 and shortly afterwards joined the US Army, completing Officer Candidates School at Duke University. With the rank of Captain, Wilbur served in the Finance Office of the China-Burma-India Theater during World War II, earning a Bronze Star Medal for his service. After returning home, he graduated from UC Berkeley in September 1949 with a Master’s Degree in Business Administration. In 1952, Wilbur founded his own certified public accounting practice in Salinas. At the time of his death, Wilbur was a founding partner in Stevens, Sloan and Shah, CPA’s. He served his profession as President of the California Society of the Certified Public Accountants, President of the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy, and Vice President of the
American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He chaired numerous committees and taught many continuing education courses.He was awarded the Distinguished Service Award from the California Society of CPA’s. He had two daughters and died in 2010 at age 92.
