College Essay Info & Mentor Support

Essay Mentor Support for Students

Oakland Tech’s College Essay Mentors provide FREE assistance with the college application essay (UCs, personal statement, common app, supplements) on a first-come, first-served basis. Mentors are professional writers seeking to support Tech students — especially those who do not have access to professional college counselors. For a student with inconsistent grades or a deeper story to tell, the essay can make a huge difference in admissions. Students do not need to have drafted essays to come in for help. Program hours:

Fall 2020, Mentors will meet with students online only. Sessions will be available outside of class time, most days of the school week. Seniors, visit your English teacher’s Google classroom for a link to the Mentors sign-up site, where you will find instructions and sign-up forms for making appointments with mentors.

Questions about the Essay Mentor Program can be directed to your senior English teacher, advisory teacher, the Assistant Principal for seniors or to the Oakland Tech or Fremont High College and Career Center.
